Wiz Khalifa, a rapper and Top CelebStoner, has agreed to play George Clinton in Spinning Gold, a film about music entrepreneur Neil Bogart, who ran Casablanca Records while Clinton's band Parliament was joined to the firm.
The funk half of Clinton's larger outfit, Parliament-Funkadelic, is Parliament; the rock side is Funkadelic. Casablanca was signed by Parliament in 1974. From 1974 to 1980, they published nine albums on the label, all of which are legendary. Mothership Connection (1975) and Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome (1977) both charted in the Top 20, with two singles - "Tear the Roof Off the Sucker (Give Up the Funk)" (No. 15, 1976) and "Flash Light" (No. 16, 1978).
